Xiaomi suspended the development of MIUI 12 a couple of days ago so engineers can focus on the next iteration – MIUI 12.5. Before the suspension, some devices, including the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro, were said to have received their last development build based on Android 10. The duo will receive its next closed beta build which will be based on Android 11 when Xiaomi restart the development version of MIUI. However, that’s the first step to every major update as it won’t be long till stable ROM users start getting the update after the beta release. Unfortunately, there’s yet to ETA as to when the update will start arriving, and while we wait, Xiaomi has released a new stable update for Redmi Note 8 Pro. The update is currently hitting eligible units with a version number, MIUI 12.0.6.0 QGGRUXM. It brings a new security patch and improved system security for the Russian ROM users, so if you’re in that Region, you should check the updater app for a new update.
The new stable update for Redmi Note 8 Pro, as usual, might take time before appearing on all units. It’s still a limited rollout for now, as few people need to test the build for a possible bug. The public will start receiving the update after the preview phase, and that’s expected to last for a couple of days.
