Google officially announced the stable Android 12 yesterday but won’t release the update to Pixel owners yet. They’re to receive the latest version of Android in the coming weeks, while other OEMs like Xiaomi will start pushing it later in the year. Meanwhile, before the stable release, Google has been testing the build with Xiaomi in participation. After the build reached platform stability, they started pushing it to closed beta testers in China based on MIUI. Interestingly, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra Android 12 update has now arrived globally.
Recall that Xiaomi recruited stable beta testers specifically for the Android 12. They’re now rolling out the update to eligible users. So far, only those using the flagship Xiaomi Mi 11 series phones – Mi 11, Mi 11 Ultra, and Mi 11i are getting the update. It’s a stable beta build, meaning only the selected 200 individuals will receive the update. However, the company has made available the recovery ROM, which is about 3.4GB in size. You can download and flash manually, but before that, you should read the notice below.

This update is a limited release for Mi Pilot testers. Don’t forget to back up all important items before upgrading. The update process might take longer than usual. Expect overheating and other performance issues after you update – it might take some time for your device to adapt to the new version. Remember that some third-party apps aren’t yet compatible with Android 12 and you might not be able to use them normally.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra Android 12 update is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 SKAMIXM. It comes with features of Android 12, but you might not notice because of MIUI. Aside from that, the Android security patch level has been bumped to September 2021 to increase system security and stability.
