The Google Pixel 8a, codenamed “Akita,” has appeared in a Geekbench 5 listing with some interesting details. The most noticeable difference is the underclocked Tensor G3 processor that powers the Pixel 8a. This processor configuration includes a prime core clocked at 2.91GHz, four performance cores clocked at 2.37GHz, and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.7GHz. In comparison, the standard Tensor G3 features a single Cortex-X3 core clocked at up to 3GHz, four Cortex-A715 cores clocked at up to 2.45GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores clocked at up to 2.15GHz.
The Pixel 8a is equipped with 8GB of RAM and is running Android 14. Its Geekbench scores include a single-core score of 1,218 and a multi-core score of 3,175 points. Unfortunately, the remaining specifications of the Pixel 8a are currently undisclosed.
It’s interesting to see Google potentially experimenting with different processor configurations for its Pixel devices, and the underclocked Tensor G3 could offer a unique performance profile for the Pixel 8a.
