Google introduced a new battery stats with the release of Android 14 QPR1 update, which disappeared after the release of Android 14 QPR2. Early reports suggested it was a bug, but Google has confirmed it was never supposed to appear on released Pixel phones.
The new battery stats, according to Google, is intended for upcoming Pixel phones, and Pixel 8a will be the first to feature it. Now, we know that Google is debuting a new feature with their upcoming phone while they also confirmed the device is coming.
Meanwhile, if you are not familiar with the new battery stats, here is what it does. It’s different from Apple battery stats, which show battery health. The Pixel Battery stats show charging cycle counts and the date the battery was produced. Google probably plans to add more options to the stats and optimize the feature, as reports hint the stats were not accurate.
It makes sense that Google is leaving the feature for new Pixel phones. With that, the stats will be more accurate as counts will start from day one. Also, the company will include additional battery health information.
