The Redmi Note 12R, a budget smartphone offering from Xiaomi, shares many of its main specifications and design elements with the recently launched Redmi 12. While featuring a few minor camera tweaks and an upgraded CPU, the Redmi Note 12R largely matches the specifications of its counterpart.
The device boasts a 6.79-inch IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It incorporates a punch-hole cutout to house a 5MP front-facing camera. On the rear, the device features a 50 MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by a 2MP macro module.
The Note 12R is available in different RAM and storage configurations, including 4/6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage. Storage can be expanded using the microSD card slot. Powering the device is a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging support. It runs MIUI 14 on the Android 13 operating system.
The smartphone is offered in Midnight Black, Time Blue, and Sky Fantasy color options. In China, the base variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at CNY 999 (approximately $140). It is worth noting that the device is also available on contract for as low as CNY 99 ($14). It remains uncertain whether Xiaomi plans to release the Redmi Note 12R in markets outside of China.
