Google had rolled out updates and security patches to fix a few issues Pixel 6 series users complained about. Although the Dirty Pipe exploit has been a major complaint from Pixel 6 users since the year 2022 began, the Dirty Pipe fix for Pixel 6 has just arrived in the May security patch.

Dirty Pipe fix for Pixel 6

This vulnerability was discovered from recent versions of the Linus kernel and it crept into Android 12-based devices of which the Pixel 6 series is among. There hasn’t been any official security patch bearing the fix for this exploit, although Samsung rolled out a security patch for the Galaxy S22 and said it included the fix but the April SMR bulletin didn’t take note of this.

Following the release of the May security patch, the associated security bulletin says this May security patch update includes a Dirty Pipe fix for Pixel 6 and for other recent Android devices as the vulnerability affected a handful of both Pixel and Galaxy devices.

May Security Patch bears Dirty Pipe fix for Pixel 6, what else?

Apart from the Dirty Pipe fix for Pixel 6, the new update bears some fixes for display, sensors as well as the user interface. This May security patch update fixes issues of the display coming on without user interaction, brings improved haptic feedback under certain conditions and use cases, and also fixes the issues of the launcher crashing after restarting the device.

If you’re rocking the Pixel 6 and you want to fix these issues, then you should check for the update. Although your device will notify you when it’s available, you can still install it manually. Navigate to the settings app, click on software updates, and then download and install.
