It has been two Android OS upgrades for premium phones and a single OS update for midranges until the unveiling of the Xiaomi 11T series. The series started the company’s new policy of four years of support, during which eligible devices will receive three Android OS updates. While the company didn’t announce adjustments for entry-level phones, recent developments have shown that these phones will now receive two Android OS upgrades moving forward.
Reports show that the Xiaomi POCO M3 Android 12 internal testing has started. It means the device will receive Android 12 and probably with MIUI 13. However, that’s likely to be the last Android update it would receive, which is not bad for a phone of under $200. Unfortunately, it’s unclear when Xiaomi will release the update to stable users, but given previous rollouts, the update should be months away from making its public rollout.
