With Samsung now offering up to five years of support, Xiaomi needed to improve. The Chinese OEM has been rolling out a single Android OS upgrade to their entry-level phones, but that seems to be changing. It has been two Android OS upgrades for premium phones and a single OS update for midranges until the unveiling of the Xiaomi 11T series. The series started the company’s new policy of four years of support, during which eligible devices will receive three Android OS updates. While the company didn’t announce adjustments for entry-level phones, recent developments have shown that these phones will now receive two Android OS upgrades moving forward.

Reports show that the Xiaomi POCO M3 Android 12 internal testing has started. It means the device will receive Android 12 and probably with MIUI 13. However, that’s likely to be the last Android update it would receive, which is not bad for a phone of under $200. Unfortunately, it’s unclear when Xiaomi will release the update to stable users, but given previous rollouts, the update should be months away from making its public rollout.

The Xiaomi POCO M3 Android 12 has just arrived for developers. Perhaps, this is the first Android 12 build that has been released for the device, meaning there’s a long way ahead before it becomes stable enough as a daily driver. Of course, that is only when the update would be released to the public. We expect it to arrive with a stable MIUI 13 build, and hopefully, we will get a time frame in the coming days.

Details of the Xiaomi POCO M3 Android 12 released for internal testing

The build is for developers only, and there’s no way to access it. It has version number 22.4.2, and it’s for the global version of CITRUS, which is the codename for POCO M3 Pro. The build is based on 12.0 (Android 12).
